Abstract
This research mainly aimed to identify farmers' knowledge of technical recommendations for cotton cultivation in Sidi Salem District at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, on a sample of 175 respondents. The necessary data to achieve the research objectives were collected using a questionnaire form through a personal interview. Percentages, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation were used. The most important results were: The distribution of respondents according to their knowledge of technical recommendations for cotton cultivation indicates that about 93% of them fell into the categories of low and medium knowledge, and that about 85%, about 41%, about 82%, about 81%, 76%, about 86% of the total respondents fell into the categories of low and medium knowledge of technical recommendations for preparing permanent land for cotton cultivation, planting permanent land, fertilizing cotton, combating cotton insects, combating cotton diseases, and picking, harvesting, and packing cotton. The results also indicate the existence of variation in the information sources on which they depend. The respondents as a source of their information in the field of cotton cultivation, where the results indicated that personal experience came in first place, followed by traders of production supplies, then senior farmers and leaders, then extension fields, then neighbors and friends, then extension meetings, then cotton specialists, then the agricultural research station, then the regional college of agriculture, then agricultural magazines and bulletins with percentages of 100%, 100%, 91.4%, 85.7%, 78.3%, 57.7%, 57.1%, 51.4%, 50.3%, 28.6% respectively
