Abstract

This research mainly targeted the Extension Knowledge needs of farmers regarding technical recommendations for onion production in Qaleen District at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, on a sample of 220 respondents. The necessary data to achieve the research objectives were collected using a questionnaire form with a personal interview. Percentages, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, simple correlation coefficient, and multiple regression coefficient were used. The most important results were: The distribution of respondents according to their knowledge needs regarding the technical recommendations for onion production indicates that about 95% of them fell into the category of medium and high knowledge needs, and that about 93%, about 96%, about 96%, 96%, 58%, 86%, 79%, 94%, 95% of the total respondents fell into the categories of medium and high need for the technical recommendations for preparing the nursery for onion cultivation, planting and fertilizing the onion nursery, and resisting pests and insects of the onion nursery. Considerations that must be taken into account when uprooting the nursery, preparing the permanent land for onion cultivation, irrigating and fertilizing the permanent land for onion cultivation, controlling onion insects, resisting onion diseases, and considerations that must be taken into account when uprooting and storing onions. The results also indicate that the independent variables combined explain 22.8% of the variance in the farmers’ cognitive guidance needs regarding the technical recommendations for onion production based on the value of the coefficient of determination R2.
