Attitudes of Farmers towards Protecting the Rural Environment from pollution at Kafr El Sheikh Governorate

Abstract

This research mainly aimed to identify the farmers' attitude towards protecting the rural environment from pollution in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, on a sample of 175 respondents. The necessary data to achieve the research objectives were collected using a questionnaire form through a personal interview. The most important results were: about 87%, about 97%, about 86%, about 97%, about 94%, about 90, 96%, about 98%, about 99%, about 93% of the total respondents fell into the categories of negative and neutral attitude towards protecting the environment from pollution, as well as their attitudes towards protecting irrigation water from pollution, their attitudes towards protecting agricultural soil from pollution, their attitudes towards protecting air from pollution, their attitudes towards protecting the home environment from pollution, their attitudes towards protecting urban space from pollution, their attitudes towards protecting food from pollution, and their attitudes towards Maintaining family health, their attitudes towards maintaining health when dealing with animals, and their attitudes towards methods of reducing climate change, respectively. The results indicate that the variables included in the study combined are related to the degree of the respondents’ attitude towards protecting the rural environment from pollution as a dependent variable with a correlation coefficient of 0.843, which is a value that has proven significant at the probability level of 0.01 based on the calculated value of 35.317. The results also indicate that the independent variables combined explain 71% of the variance in the dependent variable based on the value of the coefficient of determination R2.
