Abstract

The research aims to study the current situation of production and consumption capacity, the amount of the gap, the actual and desirable level of production, consumption, self-sufficiency, foreign trade, average per capita income, gap, production efficiency and export efficiency of red meat in Egypt.. The most important results were that the annual average of agricultural production, animal production and red meat in real terms amounted to about 133.96, 47.20 and 18.55 billion pounds, respectively, and at a statistically significant annual increase at the level of 1% (2.11%, 8.90%, 3.61%) respectively. The engineering annual average of instability coefficient was about 1.52%, 3.66%, 3.94%. This reflects the relative stability of the development of the value of each of them, respectively. By estimating the relative disparity between the actual level and the desired or desired target for production, consumption and self-sufficiency, it was found that the annual average of the desired level of production was estimated by 992.37 thousand tons representing about 87.60% of actual production. The annual average of the desired level of consumption was estimated by 1151.93 thousand tons represented about 95.77% of actual consumption. The annual average of the desired level of self-sufficiency was estimated by 86.96 thousand tons representing about 91.47 of actual self-sustainment during the period 2000-2016.
